OUR STORY
As a Fashion Institute Technology (FIT) Graduate in double major - Fashion Buying and Merchandising, and Textile Production Management…for a brief period of time, in the mid 80’s, I did pursue a career in the fashion field - as a buyer in the juniors and linens departments, for B. Altman & C0. However, jewelry designing and buying was my calling. As a married woman with two young toddlers, living in Greece, away from my homeland I could not fulfill my dream. In 2003 my husband and I, decided to relocate with our two girls back to New York, and continue our dream future life in the beautiful suburb of long island. Once we got settled in our pretty nest, I was ready to pursue my dream of creating my own tangible, and beautiful work of the art pieces of jewelry.

Having traveled through ancient goddess worlds, such as Greece, Armenia and then, home of the Roman Empire, Italy…through this voyage of unique and historic places, I was inspired to delve into the search for traditional, and authentic, and beyond the basic designs of jewelry - Telesto Designs was born in May, of 2009.

Telesto…a sea goddess in Greek mythology…this word also translates into the personification of success and divine blessing…for over a decade Telesto Designs has succeeded in transforming myth into reality… its creation was an inspiration, derived through love for, elaborate and impressive jewelry. Our jewelry designs portray diversified lifestyle, grace, confidence, and current trends…by offering combination of wide variety of motifs…from Byzantine era - intricate filigree work infused with genuine gem stones, set over 18k and 14k gold, and sterling silver metals, to more contemporary, versatile, fun, everyday jewelry, and accessories for a unique and personal style…we create and purchase our lines of jewelry from many parts of the world, with great care and consideration, to ensure your jewelry/accessories retain its quality and beauty for years to come…

Today - Byzantine jewelry making techniques requires very creative, talented, skilled, and innovative goldsmith to duplicate, and combine the old techniques with the new in their reproduction process. In the Byzantine era, these sophisticated jewels were a status symbol; therefore, only the wealthy would have been able to afford such luxurious jewelry. In today’s modern time, there are very few artists who continue creating those traditional intricate, ornately etched, filigree infused with beautiful gemstones on 18K gold and sterling silver metals, at moderate price points.

Note: This collection is based on “order-on-demand”, each piece is hand crafted and customized just for you. Therefore, this process requires a few weeks to be produced and delivered to us; and an additional few days to arrive in your possession. Please, also note that we do have some jewelry items in stock for immediate delivery.
